Information event: NAIF

Description

The NAIF (National Approach for Interoperable repositories and Findable research results) project aims to develop a coordinated, nationwide framework to improve the interoperability, quality and visibility of research outputs stored in Swiss institutional repositories.

At the NAIF Information Event on 28 August 2025, project leads and experts presented the conceptual and technical foundations of the four project tracks: (1) the responsible use of quantitative indicators; (2) a review of international approaches and the development of scenarios for Switzerland; (3) a national survey and analysis of institutional repositories; and (4) the enhancement of national and global academic data through improved metadata practices.

The event outlined upcoming milestones, stakeholder involvement and expected outcomes, including the establishment of a national working group to promote standardisation and foster open science practices in Switzerland. NAIF is laying the groundwork for a sustainable, collaborative and interoperable research information ecosystem that is aligned with international standards and best practices.
