Eldana saccharina Walker, 1865b *

COMMON NAME(S): African sugar-cane borer, African sugarcane stalk borer or Eldana borer.

SYNONYM(S): Ancylosidia conipyga Strand, 1913c.

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Mazabuka [Nakambala Sugar Estates] *, in Southern Province; Chirundu, in Lusaka Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): This taxon is indigenous to Africa. It is a pest of sugarcane.
