All About Respect: Project Report
Authors/Creators
Description
Our All About Respect project report outlines our project work focusing on raising awareness of the nature and impact of gender-based violence and hate crime in young adults aged 16–25 in York and North Yorkshire. Through a combination of surveys, focus groups, and creative "ARTivism" competitions, we gathered data on perceptions of safety, healthy relationships, and the prevalence of harassment. The findings highlight that while many young people recognise unacceptable behaviours like manipulation and controlling conduct, many also feel that such violence has become a normalised part of daily life. To address these concerns, we advocate for youth-led campaigns, better reporting mechanisms, and early education to reshape societal views on gender norms, gender-based violence, and hate crime.
