Description
Description:
This dataset provides comprehensive estimates of CO₂ emissions from lime production and CO₂ uptake through carbonation of lime-based materials during the period 1930–2024. It represents the first standardized global assessment, covering a 95-year time span and accounting for 81.09% of global lime production across 11 major lime-producing countries and the Rest of the World (ROW).
Key Features:
- Temporal Coverage: 1930–2024 (95 years)
- Spatial Coverage: 11 major lime-producing countries (China, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Russia) and the Rest of the World
- System Boundary: Expanded to include blast furnace slag (BFS) and nine other lime-based materials
- Data Components: Activity level data, calculation result data, parameter library
Dataset Structure:
- Activity Level Data (1930–2024): Lime, steel, alumina, paper and paperboard production by country
- Calculation Result Data: CO₂ emissions and uptake by country, material, and year
- Parameter Library: Country-specific and period-specific accounting parameters
Material Categories Included:
- Construction Industry: Lime-stabilized soil (LSS), Mortar (MOR), Lime kiln dust (LKD)
- Metallurgical Industry: Steel slag (SS), Blast furnace slag (BFS), Red mud (RM)
- Chemical Industry: Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), Sugar refining lime (SUG), Carbide slag (CS), Lime mud (LM)
