Description
Eublemma scitula (Rambur, 1833)
COMMON NAME(S): Grey Eublemma
SYNONYM(S): Eublemma almaviva Berio, 1947; Eublemma atrimedia Hampson, 1914b; Eulocastra cretacea Hampson, 1893b; Nola exasperata Lederer, 1855; Erastria futilis Swinhoe, 1884; Eublemma geyeri Rothschild, 1915a; Agrophila gibbosa Snellen, 1872.
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Libya, Malawi, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Réunion, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Chilanga, Kafue and Lusaka, in Lusaka Province; Kabwe, in Central Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larvae of the taxon feed on scale insects (Super family Coccoidea) including Ceroplastes a wax scale insect in the family Coccidae and Coccus hesperidium Linnaeus, 1758, a soft scale insect in the same family, Coccidae.
