Hampsonita esmeralda (Hampson, 1910a)

COMMON NAME(S): Esmeralda’s Kitten.

SYNONYM(S): None.

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa, Togo, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Lusaka, in Lusaka Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): The followinsug Proteaceae species are reported as host plants of the taxon in South Africa; Protea sp., Faurea sp., F. saligna Harv., Protea caffra Meisn. and P. welwitschii Engl. (Platt 1921; Pinhey 1975; Schintlmeister & Witt 2015). Elsewhere in an unnamed African country or countries, Protea angolensis Welw. (Proteaceae) is reported as a host plant of the taxon, while no plant species are indicated as hot plants for the taxon for Zambia.
