Original data for mean tracheolar volume density in the flight muscle of insects (% of flight muscle volume), acquired by unbiased stereological analysis of 44 species, with representatives from 10 orders, different flight muscle type (synchronous or asynchronous), and across nearly their entire body mass range (0.334 mg to 7.74 g).
