Description
This report presents a national roadmap for developing an Indian Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) database, commissioned by UN Environment (Life Cycle Initiative) and funded by the European Commission in 2018. It was led by CSIR-NEERI (Dr. Rajesh Biniwale and Dr. Praveen Siluvai Antony) with support from the Confederation of Indian Industry (Ms. Nisha Jayaram) and Dr. Sanjeevan Bajaj (Consultant). The document outlines governance structures, stakeholder engagement, phased implementation strategies, and technical approaches for creating interoperable, high-quality Indian life-cycle inventory (LCI) datasets linked to global platforms such as the Global LCA Data Access (GLAD) network. The report is intended for policymakers, researchers, industry practitioners, and sustainability professionals involved in environmental assessment, resource efficiency, and evidence-based decision-making in India.
