High-Resolution WRF Simulations of two Mediterranean Tropical-Like Cyclones (Medicane): Ianos (2020) and Qendresa (2014)

This dataset contains high-resolution numerical simulations performed with the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model for two Mediterranean Tropical-Like Cyclones (MTLCs, also known as Medicanes):

• Medicane Ianos (September 2020)
• Medicane Qendresa (November 2014)

The simulations were produced to investigate the surface and vertical structure of MTLCs and their dependence on large-scale forcing and boundary-layer processes.

Only the innermost WRF domain (d03) is provided, with a horizontal resolution of 1 km, allowing explicit representation of mesoscale and convective structures. Three different physical configurations (S01, S02, S03) are included for each event.

All data are provided in NetCDF format on the original WRF grid. To limit data volume, only a reduced set of variables relevant for the analyses presented in the associated publications is retained.

This dataset supports reproducibility and reuse for studies on Mediterranean cyclones, tropical-like transitions, and high-resolution atmospheric modeling.
