NFDI4Immuno: Building a Federated Ecosystem for Immunological Research Data – From Standards to European Integration
Authors/Creators
Description
The field of immunology generates diverse and highly complex datasets, requiring interoperable and well-structured infrastructures to ensure sustainable data reuse.
NFDI4Immuno addresses this challenge by establishing a federated repository ecosystem tailored specifically to the immunological data landscape.
In this poster, we present the current status and strategic direction of NFDI4Immuno.
We outline the technical architecture, which follows a Data Hub structural pattern,
and introduce the central web portal—currently in its final implementation stages—which integrates modules for data search, access, and deposition.
A key focus of our work is fostering interoperability across institutional and national boundaries.
We illustrate our harmonization strategies bridging NFDI4Immuno with the metadata models of the AIRR Knowledge Commons (AKC) and the AIRR Community.
Despite differing metadata models, we are aligning strategies to lower barriers between these infrastructures and strengthen FAIR principles globally.
Looking forward, we discuss the integration of these services into European structures (EOSC, EHDS). This includes mapping existing metadata schemas to HealthDCAT-AP to ensure compatibility with the European Health Data Space (EHDS). Complementing these technical solutions, NFDI4Immuno addresses cultural change (Data Culture) through a new helpdesk and training materials, empowering researchers to handle research data in a standardized manner.
