Description

OPI-Western-United-States Analysis of modern orographic precipitation and isotopes in the western United States (130 to 89 W, 28 to 47 N)

Mark T. Brandon, Yale University, and Michael T. Hren, University of Connecticut

This data repository presents an analysis of stable-isotope data from modern meteoric water samples collected across the western United States. The OPI programs of Brandon (2022) are used to estimate the best-fit modern precipitation isotope climatology for the region. These results provide a framework used by Hren and Brandon (2026) to convert water-isotope compositions preserved in Eocene fossil leaf wax from the northern Sierra Nevada to estimates of paleotopography of this region.
