Replication Data for Decoding Discourse: Gendered Heckling in German Bundestag Debates (1949-2021)
Description
The dyadic panel dataset contains directed speaker–interrupter pairs for all plenary speeches in the German Bundestag from 1949 to 2021, restricted to interruptions originating from MPs belonging to parties other than the speaker’s. Each observation represents one potential interaction between a speaker and an MP from another party and records the number of heckling interruptions directed at that speech, with zero indicating that no interruption occurred. The dataset includes identifiers and names for both speakers and interrupters, where the ID variables for speaker and interrupter correspond to the official unique Bundestag member identifiers (MdB IDs). The underlying speech and interruption data are derived from the harmonized corpus of Bundestag plenary protocols compiled by Blätte (2017).
