Kcpe and Secondary School Academic Performance
Authors/Creators
Description
This study examines the relationship between Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) performance and subsequent academic achievement in secondary school. Using quantitative analysis of examination scores from selected secondary schools, the study evaluates whether KCPE results are reliable predictors of long-term academic success. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted to determine the strength and significance of the relationship between primary and secondary school performance indicators. Findings indicate that while KCPE scores moderately predict secondary school outcomes, other institutional and socio-economic factors significantly influence academic trajectories. The study contributes to educational policy discussions regarding student placement and assessment reliability in Kenya.
