Detected, categorised and tracked jets, diverse quantities interpolated in jet-centred coordinates

Description

  • `all_jets_one_df.parquet`: detected jet cores in the North Altantic and European sector. Contains the categorisation information with the column 'is_polar'.
  • `cross_catd.parquet` and `jet_persistence.parquet`: Jet tracking output, from the function `jetutils.jet_finding.track_jets()`. A row for each day and jet, columns have various intermediate tracking results but mainly the Frechet distance between the two jets and their longitudinal overlap.
  • `props_as_df_uncat.parquet` and `props_as_df.parquet`. Jet properties as described in Banderier et al. 2025. Uncategorised (one row per time and jet core) and categorised (one row per time and jet category), respectively.
  • `cluster_df.nc`: Heat waves regions from Pappert et al. 2025
  • `region_t2m_dailymean_anom.parquet` and `region_tp_dailymean_anom.parquet`. Regionalised temperature and precipitation daily anomalies in the regions defined by `cluster_df.nc`
  • `jet_centred` directory: interpolated fields on the jet-centred plane. Everything is at daily temporal resolution. For eddy quantities, eddies are separated from the mean flow using a 10-day high-pass filter on the dataset of zonal and meridional wind at 250 hPa.
    • APVO and CPVO: Anticyclonic and Cyclonic PV Overturning, detected using the wavebreaking package 10.5281/zenodo.14214463.
    • EKE250: Eddy Kinetic Energy at 250 hPa. 
    • EMFconv250: Eddy Momentum Flux convergence at 250 hPa. 
    • PV330: Potential Vorticity on the 330K isentrope.
    • PV350: Potential Vorticity on the 350K isentrope.
    • U250: Horizontal wind speed magnitude at 250 hPa.
    • t2m: 2m temperature
    • theta: potential temperature on the pressure level of maximum wind speed magnitude (see paper)
    • tp: daily accumulated precipitation
    • u: zonal wind on the pressure level of maximum wind speed magnitude
    • v: zonal wind on the pressure level of maximum wind speed magnitude
    • vort: relative vorticity on the pressure level of maximum wind speed magnitude
    • up250: eddy zonal wind at 250 hPa
    • vp250: eddy meridional wind at 250 hPa
