Dynamic Pricing Dataset for High-Speed Rail Modal Shift Analysis: Madrid-Barcelona Corridor Ticket Prices

This dataset contains 2.4 million price observations from Spanish 
high-speed rail (Renfe) services on the Madrid-Barcelona corridor 
collected in 2019.

Dataset characteristics:
- Routes: Madrid-Barcelona and Barcelona-Madrid
- Time period: Full year 2019
- Variables: Origin, destination, train type, train class, fare 
  type, price, departure date/time, booking date/time
- Total observations: ~2,400,000 records
- Format: CSV (renfe.csv)

This dataset was used in the research paper "The Double-Edged Sword 
of Dynamic Pricing: Bidirectional Modal Shift and Carbon Leakage in 
High-Speed Rail" published in MDPI Sustainability (2026).

Data collection method: Public pricing information from Renfe 
official website and booking platforms during 2019.
