Observatório da Cultura de Belo Horizonte [ Belo Horizonte Culture Observatory ]

This book aims to document and systematize the memory of the process that led to the creation of the Belo Horizonte Culture Observatory and the Audiovisual Observatory, two significant achievements for the municipality’s cultural sector. The establishment of these observatories did not arise exclusively from a demand of public administration, but also from recurring claims by civil society, repeatedly expressed in the Municipal Culture Conferences. It is worth highlighting that the implementation of the Municipal Culture Observatory is предусмотрed as one of the strategic goals of the Municipal Culture Plan 2015–2025, which reinforces its legitimacy within the field of public cultural policies. Thus, the volume Municipal Culture Observatory is configured as a relevant repository of Belo Horizonte’s cultural memory, while also presenting itself as a collective, shared experience in the creation of the Culture Observatory and the Audiovisual Observatory, reaffirming the role of public management and institutional cooperation in consolidating evidence-based cultural policies.
