Description

This work introduces Alignment Integrity Systems (AIS), a governance architecture for human-centered, agentic AI, and defines the Ethical Coherence Governance (ECG) metric for assessing the stability of human authority over machine behavior across time.

AIS reframes alignment not as a statistical property of models, but as a governance relationship between human meaning and machine capability. It integrates early drift sensing, intentional friction, containment boundaries, and explicit human sovereignty into a unified, recursive control architecture designed for safety-critical and regulated environments.

The ECG metric functions as a coherence indicator—measuring whether optimization, speed, and system evolution are remaining compatible with human-defined ethical constraints. Rather than reacting after harm, AIS is designed to surface misalignment early and yield to human authority before irreversible outcomes occur.

This artifact is presented as a conceptual and architectural contribution, intended to inform AI governance research, institutional oversight models, and emerging standards discussions. It does not describe a deployed system or provide implementation code.

Executive Summary

This work introduces Alignment Integrity Systems (AIS)- a governance architecture designed to preserve human authority as AI systems become increasingly autonomous and recursive. AIS addresses a structural gap in current AI safety approaches: the absence of machine-time governance mechanisms that prevent misalignment before harm occurs.

AIS integrates four governance layers- drift sensitivity, intentional friction, containment boundaries, and explicit human sovereignty- into a unified control architecture. Rather than relying on post hoc oversight or model-level alignment, AIS treats alignment as a continuous governance relationship between human meaning and machine action.

To assess whether this relationship remains stable over time, the work defines the Ethical Coherence Governance (ECG) metric: a signal of whether optimization pressure, execution speed, and system evolution remain compatible with human-defined ethical constraints.

This artifact presents AIS and ECG at the architectural level only. It is intended to inform governance research, institutional oversight models, and standards development, while reserving implementation-specific mechanisms for subsequent technical disclosures.
