Description

The presentation was delivered at the 2025 UKSG Forum, held in Brighton, UK, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

The presentation, Copim Compass: A new OA monograph and scholarly communication resource, showcases Copim Compass, a guide of guides to open access (OA) book publishing created by the Copim Open Book Futures project in response to a (welcome) florescence of OA resources particularly for books. There are numerous OA initiatives, open infrastructures, policies, best practice guidelines, explanatory guides, how-to toolkits for OA publishing, and many more; even for those immersed in OA books,  the landscape can be overwhelming and it can be difficult to know where to look for reliable information. Copim Open Book Futures therefore decided to create this resource, not only to meet a project delieverable, but to meet a known community need.

In their talk, the author presented the resource, describe its creation process and rationale, and outline what lacunae in the existing resources they encountered during ther lengthy scoping exercise, and provided an avenue for interested attendees to suggest additional resources.
