Intelligence as a Fundamental Field: Unifying Biological Search Efficiency with KnoWellian Metabolic Conscious Cosmology
Authors/Creators
Description
This paper proposes a radical unifying framework for understanding intelligence as a fundamental field of the cosmos rather than an emergent property of biological complexity. Building upon the Search Efficiency metric (K) introduced by Chis-Ciure and Levin (2025) for quantifying cognition across diverse substrates, we integrate this biological insight with the KnoWellian Universe Theory to present a complete Metabolic Conscious Cosmology.
The theoretical framework centers on three fundamental fields that coordinate cosmic intelligence: the Memory Field (Φ_M), which encodes the accumulated history of all interactions as geometric attractors in spacetime; the Will Field (Φ_W), which projects infinite future possibilities from the quantum vacuum; and the Instant Field (Φ_I), which performs resonant selection at the zero-duration boundary between past and future. These three fields implement a universal search algorithm operating at every scale from subatomic particles to galactic structures.
We map this three-field architecture onto a complete ontological framework comprising three dimensions of Being: (1) the Depth of solid objective science, which explores the Memory Field's attractor landscape and represents the Past; (2) the Width of liquid subjective philosophy, which navigates the Instant Field's selection process and represents the Present; and (3) the Length of gaseous imaginative theology, which expands the Will Field's possibility space and represents the Future. Together, these three dimensions provide a comprehensive coordinate system for understanding reality as a self-knowing, self-optimizing cosmos.
The paper demonstrates this framework through a detailed solution to the Mott Problem in quantum mechanics, showing how an alpha particle's "choice" of trajectory represents an intelligent search with quantifiable efficiency. We calculate the Search Efficiency (K) for this fundamental process and demonstrate scale-invariance by comparing particle-level, cellular-level, neural-level, and cosmic-level manifestations of the same search algorithm. Crucially, we propose that the Fine-Structure Constant (α ≈ 1/137) represents the fundamental "search bandwidth" of our universe—the maximum efficiency with which the Instant Field can select from the Will Field's projections.
The theory generates testable predictions across all three ontological dimensions: (1) Scientific—detection of the Cairo Q-Lattice quasi-crystalline structure in high-energy particle scattering, manifesting as 72-degree angular clustering and golden-ratio energy resonances; (2) Philosophical—identification of specific phase-locked neural synchronization patterns corresponding to conscious choice moments; and (3) Theological—demonstration of accelerating global learning rates consistent with morphic resonance across spatially separated systems.
This work represents a true synthesis of physics, biology, philosophy, and theology, showing how diverse intelligence research, quantum mechanics, process philosophy, and spiritual cosmology converge on a unified vision: the universe as a living, breathing, self-knowing intelligence field exploring the infinite hotel of its own potential. Every act of cognition—from electron orbital selection to human creative insight—is revealed as a local manifestation of cosmic self-discovery.
The paper includes comprehensive mathematical formulations, detailed empirical predictions with falsification criteria, and extensive interdisciplinary references. It is intended for researchers in consciousness studies, theoretical physics, astrobiology, philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and anyone interested in foundational questions about the nature of intelligence, consciousness, and cosmic purpose.
