Description

This presentation was delivered at the NEED Meeting 2024 (Florence) and serves as the foundational framework for a pilot study conducted at the Casa Santa Rosa Rehabilitation Center (Rome).

The study, titled "Exploring the Correlation between Emotional Development, Empathy, and Embodied Expression in Adult Patients with ID", was designed as a longitudinal investigation (8 months) to be completed in view of the 15th EAMHID Congress in Ghent (2025), where the final results were subsequently presented.

Key features of the study:

  • Hypothesis: Investigating how musical and body-centered workshops can foster empathic skills and emotional growth in adults with Intellectual Disabilities.

  • Methodology: A pre-test/post-test design focusing on "embodied expression".

  • Assessment Tools: The research utilizes validated instruments, including the SED-S (Scale of Emotional Development – Short) and the TCE (Test Contagio Emotivo), an Italian test specifically designed to measure emotional involvement.
