Report OHDSI Europe Symposium 2025 "Join the Network: Advancing Real-World Evidence in Europe"
Description
The 6th OHDSI Europe Symposium – Join the Network: Advancing Real-World Evidence in Europe – took place on July 7, 2025, at the historic Old Prison building of Hasselt University. Hosted by the Biomedical Data Sciences research group of Hasselt University on behalf of OHDSI Belgium, and organized in close collaboration with OHDSI Europe, this edition marked the first time the symposium was held outside its traditional base in Rotterdam.
The event reached full capacity, welcoming 365 participants from across Europe and beyond, representing academia, industry, healthcare providers, and policymakers. The program featured pre-symposium tutorials and workshops, over 100 poster
presentations, rapid-fire sessions, software demonstrations, and high-level debates on the role of OHDSI in shaping the European Health Data Space.
The symposium brought together both newcomers and experienced members of the OHDSI community, offering opportunities for hands-on learning, knowledge exchange, and strategic dialogue. It emphasized the importance of collaboration, data
standardization, and open science in driving real-world evidence generation at scale.
This report summarizes the proceedings of the symposium, highlighting how the European OHDSI network is maturing into a trusted research infrastructure of global relevance. It focuses on the community’s growth, its contributions to regulatory science and policy, and the opportunities ahead to advance real-world evidence and deliver impact for patients across Europe.
