Authors/Creators
Description
This Digital Infopack provides a concise and accessible overview of the InterPED project and its approach to developing interoperable, cloud-based solutions for the cross-vector planning and management of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs). It introduces the concept of PEDs, explains why they are critical for Europe’s climate and energy transition, and outlines the key challenges faced by cities and communities, including legacy infrastructure, system complexity, lack of interoperability, and limited citizen engagement.
The material presents InterPED’s vision, mission, and objectives, highlighting how integrated energy management, sector coupling, flexibility services, and data interoperability can support scalable and replicable PED solutions. It also showcases the role of community engagement, digital platforms, and citizen-facing dashboards in empowering local actors and improving energy awareness.
The infopack is intended for a broad audience, including municipalities, urban planners, energy communities, service providers, and policymakers, and serves as a communication and dissemination resource supporting knowledge sharing, clustering activities, and replication of Positive Energy District concepts.
