Antibiotic Susceptibility Test
Description
An Antibiotic Susceptibility Test (AST) was performed to determine the sensitivity pattern of Klebsiella spp. against selected antibiotics. The test was carried out using the Kirby–Bauer disc diffusion method and the well diffusion method on Mueller–Hinton agar. A bacterial lawn culture was prepared using a sterile swab, and antibiotic agents were applied either as a disc (ciprofloxacin) or by adding solution into wells (chloramphenicol). After incubation at 37°C for 18–24 hours, the zones of inhibition were measured in millimeters and compared with standard CLSI guidelines to classify the organism as Sensitive, Intermediate, or Resistant. The results showed clear inhibition zones, indicating that the Klebsiella isolate was sensitive to both ciprofloxacin and chloramphenicol.
