Description

Dietary algae supplementation is a widely researched topic for mitigating ruminal methane emission. Focusing on species cultivable in the southern Baltic Sea, this study evaluated the effects of four macroalgae and two microalgae on rumen fermentation and methane production. Therefore, an in vitro  gas production system was used, three trials were conducted and gas kinetics, gas composition after 48 h of incubation,pH, dry matter degradability and short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) were analyzed. Files containing data taken from all trials are deposited. The deposited data consists of 9 tables and 7 assosiated tables containing legends for the data. An overwiev is shown in the file "00_algae_fermentation_data_overwiev.csv".
