Webinar held on 21 January 2026

This webinar is the second session in the Crossref learning series Building Trust Through Metadata. Launched in November 2025, the series focuses on supporting the publishing community in India and beyond by strengthening trust, transparency, and research integrity through better metadata and infrastructure.

In this session, speakers Amanda Bartell, Director of Membership, Crossref, Marie Soulière, COPE elected council member, Madhura Amdekar, Community Engagement Manager, Crossref, come together to explore how metadata, Crossref member obligations, and publication ethics work in practice to safeguard the scholarly record.

Topics covered include:

  • How richer Crossref metadata helps preserve the integrity of the scholarly record
  • Crossref member obligations and how they demonstrate a commitment to research integrity, with practical examples
  • How contributing to the Research Nexus supports trustworthy scholarly communication
  • Core publication ethics principles promoted by COPE
  • Practical advice for journals on upholding ethical publishing standards
  • COPE’s latest guidance on retractions and expressions of concern

This webinar is relevant for publishers, editors, and anyone involved in improving publishing practices and research visibility through trustworthy metadata.
