The Cellophane Continent, how Europe burnt out its brightest minds and bureaucracy feels like a soul thief

Description

This preprint develops the concept of the Cellophane State to describe contemporary European institutional exhaustion. Through cultural analysis, art history, and lived bureaucratic experience, the paper argues that systemic burnout is not an individual pathology but the result of accumulated energetic debt extracted from surplus cognitive labour. The article introduces the concepts of Surplus Mind, Soul Thief, and Energetic Debt, situating them within the broader Equilibrium Ledger framework and proposing the Human Synthetic Dyad as a structural response to institutional overload.
