Single Bouts and 8-Weeks of Resistance Training Drives Different a Lactate-Butyrate-Dopamine Axis Linking Gut Microbiota to Reward and Neuroplasticity

This repository provides the dataset supporting the study Single-Bout and 8-Weeks of Resistance Training Drive a Distinct Lactate–Butyrate–Dopamine Axis Linking Gut Microbiota to Reward and Neuroplasticity. The dataset captures molecular, microbial, and metabolite readouts collected following (i) an acute single bout and (ii) an 8-week resistance training intervention, enabling reproducible analyses of how training duration differentially relates to the proposed lactate–butyrate–dopamine axis.

The package includes: (1) sample metadata (group allocation, timepoints, biological material/tissue, and relevant experimental descriptors), (2) gut microbiota data (processed feature/abundance tables and taxonomic assignments, with accompanying diversity metrics and/or differential abundance outputs where applicable), (3) metabolite measurements for lactate and butyrate per sample, and (4) qPCR data for the following targets: B-AR, BDNF, D1R, FFAR3, 5-HT2A, and MCT1, provided both as raw Ct values and as processed outputs (e.g., ΔCt/ΔΔCt and/or fold-change, depending on the workflow). Where included, analysis scripts and session/version information are provided to document processing steps and improve computational reproducibility.
