Description
ESTOGU: A Multimodal Motor Condition Monitoring Dataset for Fault Diagnosis in Electrical Machines
This dataset contains vibration, current, and voltage measurements collected from six different electrical machine conditions under two experimental setups (**Inverter-Fed (With Driver)** and **Grid-Fed (Without Driver)**).
All experiments were conducted at the **Electrical Machines Laboratory, Eskişehir Technical University (ESTU), Turkey**.

## 📑 Filename Convention
Each data file follows the pattern:
{MACHINE}{LOAD}{FREQ}.csv
- **MACHINE**:
- `N` → Normal
- `BB` → Bearing Ball defect
- `BR` → Bearing Ring defect
- `RB3` → 3 broken rotor bars
- `RB5` → 5 broken rotor bars
- `SW` → Shorted winding
- **LOAD**: One of `{000, 111, 222, 333, 444, 555}`
- **FREQ**:
- For **With Driver**: `{45, 45.5, 46, 46.5, 47, 47.5, 48, 48.5, 49, 49.5, 50}` Hz
- For **Without Driver**: `50` Hz (constant)
**Example:**
- `BB_000_45.csv` → Bearing Ball fault, load 000, frequency 45 Hz
- `RB3_333_48.5.csv` → 3 broken rotor bars, load 333, frequency 48.5 Hz
- `N_555_50.csv` → Normal condition, load 555, frequency 50 Hz
---
## 📊 Data Format
Each `.csv` file contains **8 columns**:
| Column | Description | Units |
|-------------- |-------------------------------------------- -|---------|
| Timestamp | Time index of recording | s |
| VibrationX | Vibration signal along X-axis | V |
| VibrationY | Vibration signal along Y-axis | V |
| VibrationZ | Vibration signal along Z-axis | V |
| Current1 | Phase current 1 | V |
| Current2 | Phase current 2 | V |
| Current3 | Phase current 3 | V |
| Voltage | Phase-to-phase voltage | V |
---
## 🧪 Experimental Setups
- **With Driver**:
Measurements taken under **6 loads × 11 frequencies** for each machine condition.
- **Without Driver**:
Measurements taken under **6 loads at constant 50 Hz** for each machine condition.
⚠️ Note: Reference frequency values correspond to approximate motor RPM values (see `Metadata/Motor RPM Values.pdf`).

## ⚡ Fault Creation
The dataset includes measurements from both healthy and faulty motors. Faults were introduced in a **controlled laboratory environment** to ensure reproducibility and comparability:
- **Rotor Bar Faults (RB3, RB5):**
Artificial defects were introduced by intentionally breaking **3 or 5 rotor bars** in the rotor cage. This simulates common rotor asymmetries and cracked bar conditions observed in industry.
- **Stator Shorted Winding Fault (SW):**
Short-circuit faults were created by **damaging insulation between adjacent turns** of the stator winding, resulting in localized inter-turn short circuits.
- **Bearing Faults (BB, BR):**
Bearings with localized defects were used. Defects were created by **drilling small holes or grooves** in the **ball elements (BB)** or **inner/outer races (BR)** of the bearings to replicate realistic wear and pitting.
- **Healthy Motor (N):**
At least one motor was kept fault-free to serve as a reference baseline.
These synthetic faults follow established practices in experimental motor fault research and are comparable to widely used benchmark datasets (e.g., CWRU, Paderborn).

## 📘 Notes
- Sampling rate, measurement duration, motor RPM values, and experimental setup details are given in `Metadata/`.
- All signals are synchronized in the same file.
- Dataset collected at the **Electrical Machines Laboratory, Eskişehir Technical University (ESTU), Turkey**.
