The Quaternion Autocontained Framework (QAF) is built upon a single, unbreakable axiom: the universe is completely self-contained. This is mathematically formalized as the unitary constraint Q†Q = I₄ on the fundamental quaternionic operator. From this one principle —and no free parameters— emerges the entire structure of reality: the quaternionic algebra ℍ (dim 4), the symmetry group Sp(2) ≅ Spin(5), a fundamental spinor with exactly 8 real degrees of freedom, the four fundamental constants {c, ℏ, G, k_B} as basis elements of ℍ, and the emergent 4-dimensional spacetime manifold. This supplement presents the foundational axioms, their rigorous mathematical justification, and the step-by-step derivation of why reality must be quaternionic, 4-dimensional, and autocontained.

1. The Unique Object: The Autocontained Tensor

The core of QAF is a single mathematical object: a rank-4 mixed tensor Q^{αβ}_{γδ} defined over the quaternions ℍ, belonging to the space of (2,2)-tensors:

Standard physics treats the four fundamental constants {c, ℏ, G, k_B} as independent scalars. QAF derives them as the necessary physical manifestations of the four basis elements of the quaternion algebra ℍ = {1, i, j, k}.

3. The Law of Self-Containment: The Fundamental Equation

4. Why Quaternions? Why 4 Dimensions? The Algebraic Uniqueness Theorem

Standard physics postulates 4-dimensional spacetime and complex quantum mechanics by observational fit. QAF derives both the dimension and the algebra from first principles using Hurwitz's Theorem and the Principle of Causal Ordering.

The Four Normed Division Algebras

Hurwitz's Theorem states that only four normed division algebras exist over the reals: ℝ (reals), ℂ (complex), ℍ (quaternions), and 𝕆 (octonions).

Rejection of Commutativity

ℝ and ℂ are commutative (ab = ba). They cannot natively encode non-commutative quantum geometry without ad-hoc additions. The universe exhibits non-commutativity (Heisenberg [x,p] ≠ 0, non-Abelian gauge fields). Candidates remaining: ℍ and 𝕆.

Rejection of Non-Associativity

Octonions (𝕆) are non-associative ((AB)C ≠ A(BC)). In an octonionic universe, the outcome of events would depend on grouping, breaking causality and Hilbert space structure. Only ℍ remains: non-commutative and associative.

Derivation of Dimension 4

The quaternion algebra ℍ has exactly 4 basis elements {1, i, j, k}. The emergent spacetime manifold must match the dimension of the fundamental algebra:

Spacetime is 4-dimensional because Logic (associativity) + Structure (non-commutativity) = Quaternions.

5. Density Inversion: Vacuum as Plenum, Matter as Cavitation

Standard QFT predicts vacuum energy density ρ_vac ~ M_P⁴, while observations show ρ_obs ~ 10^{-120} M_P⁴ (Vacuum Catastrophe).

QAF inverts the ontology: the vacuum is the ground state of maximal density (Plenum), and matter is a topological defect (Cavitation).

Gravity is hydrostatic thrust: defects shield each other from isotropic plenum pressure, creating apparent attraction.

Time is length (t = l_P / c), mass is inverse length (m = ℏ / (c l_P)), temperature is inverse length. The universe contains only geometry (l_P) and topology (N).

Conclusion

The Quaternion Autocontained Framework is a rigid geometric tautology. Once the algebra Sp(2) is selected by the autocontainment axiom, all physical values are locked outputs of the geometry. Reality is the self-referential contraction of a single (2,2)-tensor over quaternions —with zero ad-hoc parameters.

Physics is geometry — and geometry is autocontained.
