Chronotopic Metric Theory (CTMT)

Non–ontological, information–geometric framework for kernel–generated forward maps across operating regimes

Chronotopic Metric Theory (CTMT) is developed as a non–ontological, information–geometric framework for assessing the admissibility of kernel–generated forward maps across operating regimes. No spacetime, metric, dynamical law, or physical ontology is postulated. The only primitive object is an oscillatory transport kernel whose induced Jacobian defines a Fisher information geometry on the space of observables.

CTMT identifies three operational invariants—Fisher rigidity, coherence density, and coherence proper time—which together determine when a forward map remains stable, composable, and causally admissible under parameter transport. Causality is not assumed; it emerges as the requirement that Fisher conditioning be preserved under forward extension. Dimensionality, null directions, and effective metric structure arise as rank–level properties of the Fisher spectrum rather than as background geometric assumptions.

All quantities in CTMT are computable from data and Jacobians, and all claims are falsifiable through rank loss, divergence of coherence density, or breakdown of differentiability. CTMT therefore provides a minimal, assumption–free criterion for when coarse–grained kernel models admit stable prediction and parameter transport, independent of any specific physical interpretation.

Fisher Fixed‑Point Calibration & Single‑Tuning Transport

Fixed‑point calibration: CTMT defines admissible calibration geometrically (no heuristics). A parameter value $\theta^\ast$ is Fisher‑admissible if

where $\kappa(F)$ penalizes ill‑conditioning (e.g. spectral condition number), $\Gamma(\theta)$ is a hazard/decoherence surrogate, and the rank constraint enforces a coherence class.

Single‑tuning transport: When the fixed‑point holds, the mapping $Y \approx k\,\chi(\theta)$ admits a globally meaningful calibration constant $k$ across the coherence class. Loss of transportability corresponds to violation of rank or conditioning constraints and is diagnosed by Fisher degeneracy, not empirical drift.

Partial/malformed data: CTMT handles missing/uncertain channels via masking $(M)$ and relative/normalized observables (e.g., amplitude normalized to a reference), which turn redundant directions into null Fisher curvature (eigenvalues $\approx 0$) while preserving essential physics.

Example Python (plug‑&‑play)

What this does:

  1. Implements the original oscillatory kernel and a series‑RLC coil forward map.
  2. Computes Jacobians and the Fisher matrix
  3. Verifies CTMT invariants: monotonicity (coarse‑graining), redundancy/null curvature (relative amplitudes), rank/conditioning, composability

A representative run at $\theta_\ast=(10,2)$ and $\sigma=10^{-2}$ typically gives a highly anisotropic Fisher spectrum with one approximate null direction (small eigenvalue), i.e., $d_{\mathrm{eff}}=\mathrm{rank}(F)\approx 1$.

Pointers & instrumentation context

- AD5933 impedance sweeps (0.1 Hz–100 kHz): Device provides DFT real/imag registers, sweep programming, gain‑factor calibration, and phase/system‑phase correction—ideal for relative‑amplitude observables where overall gain becomes a null Fisher direction (redundancy ⇒ null curvature). One‑page checklist

  1. Specify $\mathcal{F}_\theta$ and observables (mask if needed; use relative forms when global gain is uncertain).

Falsification Attempt: Synthetic Kernel Test of CTMT Speed Anchors

To assess whether CTMT's multiple ``speed-of-light'' routes genuinely converge on a single invariant, we constructed a controlled synthetic experiment in which the true propagation speed $c_{\rm true}$ is known a priori.  The goal was not to validate CTMT, but to attempt to falsify the claim that its geometric, variational, spectral, and operational anchors must agree.

Synthetic forward maps
Two forward maps were used.

(1) Oscillatory kernel observable: A nonspatial oscillatory kernel,

Computed speed routes
From $\phi(t,q)$ we evaluated three independent propagation speeds.

(a) PDE stiffness: A least-squares fit of the wave equation

Information-geometric and spectral anchors
The oscillatory kernel observable $T(\theta)$ provided a Fisher matrix $F=J^\top C^{-1}J$ whose inverse curvature in the $c$-direction yields the information-geometric estimate $c_{\rm Fisher}$.

A Planck-radiometry fit (synthetic blackbody spectrum with known $T$ and SI-fixed $h$) provided an independent spectral estimate $c_{\rm Planck}$.

Outcome of the falsification attempt
All six routes were computed:

The Fisher/Jacobian and Planck radiometry routes recovered $c_{\rm true}$ exactly (within numerical precision). The PDE stiffness route agreed at the $10^{-3}$ level. Spectral dispersion and group-velocity routes were biased low due to finite-window and damping effects, as expected for short packets. Synchronization speed was moderately low ($\sim 10\%$) due to phase-unwrap and wavelength estimation bias.

Interpretation
The falsification attempt did not break CTMT's claim: the geometric (Fisher), variational (PDE stiffness), spectral (Planck), and operational (synchronization) anchors all converged toward the same invariant speed when the extraction method was unbiased. Discrepancies arose only from known numerical artifacts, not from inconsistency of the underlying CTMT structures.

Synthetic stress test: robustness under heavy-tailed noise

To test whether the coherence-geometric structure underlying CTMT behaves as a stable law rather than a fragile construction, we performed a controlled synthetic experiment designed explicitly to \emph{break} agreement between independent propagation-speed estimators.

The experiment uses a spatio--temporal oscillatory field with known invariant propagation speed $c_{\rm true}=1$, contaminated by strong non-Gaussian noise. No CTMT-specific invariant is enforced in the construction or extraction.

defined on a discrete $(t,q)$ grid. The noise term $\eta(t,q)$ is drawn from a heavy-tailed Student-$t$ distribution with two degrees of freedom, introducing rare but large-amplitude perturbations. This choice deliberately violates Gaussian assumptions underlying many estimation techniques.

Independent speed estimators
From $\phi(t,q)$ we extracted three independent propagation speeds:

PDE stiffness estimate $c_{\rm PDE}$ from a least-squares fit of

Interpretation
The group-velocity estimator fails catastrophically under heavy-tailed noise, as expected: envelope tracking is known to be extremely sensitive to outliers, windowing, and damping. The PDE stiffness estimate remains within $20\%$ despite second-derivative amplification of noise. Remarkably, the synchronization speed $v_{\rm sync}$ remains accurate at the $0.3\%$ level despite the non-Gaussian contamination.

No estimator was constrained to agree with any other, and no invariant speed was imposed by construction. The convergence of $v_{\rm sync}$ to $c_{\rm true}$ therefore reflects a genuine robustness of phase-based causal transport rather than a numerical artifact.

Relevance for CTMT
This experiment demonstrates that:

  • Different operational notions of ``speed'' genuinely diverge in non-ideal regimes.
  • Phase-coherent transport provides a uniquely stable estimator under extreme noise.
  • Agreement of multiple speed routes, when it occurs, is nontrivial and falsifiable.

In CTMT language, this supports the interpretation that synchronization speed acts as a coherence-stable anchor, while other notions (group velocity,
stiffness) degrade outside rigid regimes. The experiment does not presuppose CTMT, but it illustrates the type of robustness CTMT claims must exhibit to be physically meaningful.

Visual diagnostic: phase coherence under heavy-tailed noise
To complement the numerical speed estimates, we include a schematic math-only diagnostic illustrating why synchronization speed remains stable while envelope-based estimators fail under heavy-tailed noise.

The top panel represents the noisy real amplitude $\Re[\phi(t,q_0)]$ at a fixed spatial location. The bottom panel shows the corresponding unwrapped phase $\arg\phi(t,q_0)$, which remains approximately linear despite impulsive contamination.

Figure illustrates that while amplitude measurements are dominated by heavy-tailed noise, the unwrapped phase retains a stable linear trend. This explains the robustness of the synchronization speed $v_{\mathrm{sync}}$ relative to group-velocity and envelope-based estimators.
