PADMICA Intercultural Preparation Module - Physical Branch

Description

The PADMICA Intercultural Preparation module aims to better prepare outgoing students for their international experience by equipping them with essential principles and tools for navigating intercultural situations. Its approach is practice-oriented, scalable, evidence-based, adaptable to various institutional contexts, and taking into account (institutional) resource-constraints.

It follows a blended format: a 1-hour online self-study component followed by a 3-hour in-person, trainer-led session. Both parts are closely connected and designed to reinforce each other.

Physical Branch

The in-person component of the PADMICA Intercultural Preparation Module is delivered in a lecture-style format led by a trainer, but it places strong emphasis on interaction, both between the trainer and students and among students themselves. This format is preferable for true intercultural training, as it allows the creation of a safe environment, personal interaction, and group dynamics — all essential for exploring themes that thrive on face-to-face engagement.

The materials for delivering the in-person session of the PADMICA Intercultural Preparation Module include:

  • a detailed trainer manual that walks staff through each step of the session, along with
  • a ready-to-use PowerPoint presentation to support delivery, as well as
  •  an Implementation Guide FAQ.

*

The module was developed within the PADMICA project, which aims to enhance outgoing students’ intercultural competences and improve the quality of their mobility experiences.

The online branch of the Intercultural Preparation module is also available.

Additionally, the project is developing a post-return debriefing module and a train-the-trainer module. A comprehensive trainer manual will be released at a later stage.
