Description

This report provides a bibliometric overview of Chilean scientific production indexed in Scopus for the year 2025, using data retrieved from SciVal. The analysis combines aggregate indicators and disciplinary breakdowns based on the All Science Journal Classification (ASJC), focusing on research output, author participation, normalized citation impact, international collaboration, and journal quality as measured by CiteScore quartiles.

Results show a consolidated national research system in terms of publication volume and disciplinary diversity, with a Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) above the world average. A substantial share of publications appears in top-ranked journals, although the distribution of journal quartiles varies significantly across disciplines, reflecting structural differences in editorial and citation practices. International collaboration plays a central role in research impact, accounting for a large proportion of Chilean outputs.

By integrating volume-based indicators with normalized impact metrics and quartile distributions, this report highlights the importance of contextualized, discipline-sensitive approaches to research evaluation. The findings are intended to support universities, research organizations, and policy-makers in strategic planning, responsible research assessment, and evidence-based decision-making.
