Consultation Manual: Modelling of field emissions and emission factors for environmental footprint studies in the citrus sector in Uruguay
Authors/Creators
Description
This consultation manual is one of the products of the INIA-FPTA 386 project, “Evaluation and improvement of the environmental sustainability of the citrus sector in Uruguay”, and arises from the need to compile and further develop key concepts related to field emissions from citrus orchards, an activity responsible for a large share of the environmental impacts along the citrus value chain.
Specifically, it offers the reader a detailed description of each of the emissions involved, taking into account the cycles of the main macronutrients in order to understand how the relevant compounds are formed, and specifying for each of them the available options for their estimation.
In addition, this manual provides the reader with emission factors specifically derived for Uruguayan production conditions, also obtained as an output of the INIA-FPTA 386 project. The use of these factors allows for more robust and representative estimates of the emissions considered, which translates into direct benefits for citrus and agricultural production in Uruguay.
This manual is intended primarily for technicians, specialists and decision-makers in Uruguayan citrus companies, although it can also be used by interested stakeholders and the general public.
