The project “Sustainable Museum Storage Buildings” (2024), supported by the The Agency for Culture and Palaces, Danish Ministry of Culture, addressed sustainability of five Danish low-energy museum storage buildings. The storage areas of each building were evaluated for climate performance, preservation metrics, indoor air quality, and energy use over at least one year. Furthermore, life-cycle assessments (LCAs) quantified the storage room’s environmental impacts over a 50-year service life. This dataset contains the underlying data files for each of these parameters. 

The research project focussed on five modern museum storage facilities in Denmark, for which the indoor climate performance, preservation metrics, indoor air quality, and energy use were evaluated over at least one year. Furthermore, life-cycle assessments (LCAs) quantified the storage room’s environmental impacts over a 50-year service life. The storage facilities were Museum Vestsjælland Shared Storage (‘Ugerløse’), Museum of Copenhagen (‘Høje Taastrup’), North Jutland Museums Shared Storage (‘Vestbjerg’), Conservation Center Museum Sønderjylland (‘Rødekro’), and The Shared Museum Storage at Conservation Centre Vejle (‘Vejle’).
