Abstract:
The prime aim of this research paper is to show how the NEP-2020 aligns with the value education in the school curricula. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 strongly emphasises the ethical and moral development of the learners in the present education scenario is concerned. NEP -2020 presents a transformative vision for Indian education by foregrounding value-based learning, ethical development, and holistic formation of learners. This research paper attempts to examine how value education and ethical development as conceptualised in the context of NEP-2020, drawing upon policy analysis and scholarly interpretations. It evaluates how the policy integrates some of the major facets of the policy in education Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), constitutional values, character education, and socio-emotional learning (SEL). Through advanced theoretical frameworks and interpretative analysis, the paper primarily argues that NEP-2020 repositions ethics from a peripheral curricular concern to a foundational pillar of educational reform in India. The study further identifies some of the significant challenges may arise during the implementation and offers suggestions for strengthening value education in institutional contexts. So far NEP -2020 is concern, National Education Policy -2020 strongly focuses on learning that is whole and based on the learners’ character development. It includes core human values some of them like empathy, respect, responsibility, and integrity in both curricular and co-curricular settings. The policy at large extent encourages experiential learning, activities that combine the arts, and getting involved in the community to help students develop moral reasoning and ethical behaviour. This study also examines how the policy's methodology is significant for cultivating well-rounded individuals which are capable of contributing to a just, inclusive, and sustainable society which are most important for the nation building as a whole. It also looks at institutional practices those are essential to help value-based education and how they affect students' moral growth.
