Description

Aim of the Deliverable

  • Requirement elicitation: To systematically identify and understand the goals, challenges and needs of potential users and stakeholders.

  • FAIR analysis: To analyse the digital objects referenced in the user stories with respect to their FAIRification status and to extract representative variables from these digital objects

  • Solution paths: To derive solution approaches from the identified requirements, forming the basis for the development of an action plan

Methodology

  • User story driven requirement elicitation

  • Systematic description of case studies, user stories and digital object analysis, represented and stored as RDF knowledge graphs.

  • Qualitative assessment and gap analysis with FAIR Implementation Profiles, on which the quantitative FAIR assessment with FAIROS will build on

  • Extraction of variables from the digital objects for future semantic modelling with I-Adopt service

Major Findings, Results, and Recommendations

  • The case studies exhibit highly specific requirements as they address different levels of information processing and knowledge production.

  • User-story centric approach to requirements elicitation proved effective in capturing these community-specific needs.

Limitations

  • The deliverable provides an initial overview of case study requirements based on their current status.

  • Further, more detailed analysis will be required in the second project year.

Conclusion of the Deliverable

  • Prior to the requirements elicitation process, case study providers were trained in FAIR awareness and the creation of FAIR Implementation Profiles.

  • This preparatory step significantly improved mutual understanding and facilitated more effective interactions throughout the requirements elicitation process.

  • This capacity building will also be beneficial for the long-term implementation of FAIR practices within the case study communities.
