Digital Product Passports and Quantum Information Theory: A New Ontology of Commercial Reality

Description

This paper explores the philosophical and practical implications of Digital Product Passports (DPP) through the lens of quantum information theory, specifically John Archibald Wheeler's "it from bit" principle and participatory universe concept. Drawing on concrete implementations including the Qubit3D printer project (2015) and the Crypto Gigio experiment (2022), I argue that DPP technology represents not merely a compliance tool but a fundamental shift in the ontological status of physical objects within digital economies. I demonstrate that blockchain-based product authentication creates an informational substrate that transcends - and ultimately supersedes - the physical existence of objects themselves.
