Addendum to the Volumetric Emergence Model (VEM): On Energy Stabilization, the Role of c², and the Non-Gravitating Nature of ρ₍c₎

Description

This addendum extends the Volumetric Emergence Model (VEM) by addressing a key conceptual gap identified through external critique: the absence of an explicit stabilization mechanism distinguishing dispersive energy from gravitationally effective mass.

The central proposal developed here is that mass corresponds not to energy density per se, but to a stabilized volumetric configuration of energy within a constant-density substrate. Stabilization occurs only when a critical volumetric signature is reached, governed by a geometric locking condition involving the invariant c². Below this threshold, energy remains dynamically reversible, dispersive, and non-gravitating. Above it, configurations cannot persist and collapse or dissipate.

In this framework, the speed of light c is reinterpreted not as a fundamental dynamical constant but as an emergent geometric parameter encoding the equilibrium between volumetric energy concentration and the rigidity of the substrate. The appearance of c² marks the transition between reversible energy fluctuations and geometrically locked mass states.

This distinction naturally explains:
• why stored electromagnetic energy (e.g. in capacitors or batteries) does not produce measurable gravitational effects,
• why mass stability is exceptional rather than generic,
• how attraction, repulsion, and saturation can coexist without invoking negative mass,
• and why homogenization remains the dominant energetic tendency of physical systems.

The addendum does not claim a completed dynamical formalism, but clarifies the ontological structure of the model and isolates c² as the pivotal concept that must be tested, formalized, or falsified. It is intended as a conceptual refinement of the original VEM framework, not as a replacement.
