A Recipe for Change: Success stories in food, data & innovation from FOODITY & DRG4FOOD Innovators

Description

The FOODITY & DRG4FOOD Innovators Booklet was developed to showcase how digitally responsible innovation can empower citizens to make healthier, more sustainable, and more informed food and nutrition choices. Its main objective is to highlight concrete success stories from projects funded under the FOODITY and DRG4FOOD programmes, demonstrating how data sovereignty, ethical data use, and advanced digital technologies can be applied across the food value chain. The booklet presents a diverse set of initiatives addressing areas such as personalised nutrition, food quality and safety, sustainable food practices, traceability, waste reduction, and fair food systems, all aligned with European priorities on sustainability, health, and digital responsibility.

In terms of content and conclusions, the booklet illustrates that citizen-centric data governance is not only compatible with innovation, but a key enabler of trust, adoption, and impact. Across the featured projects, common outcomes include improved user empowerment, better decision-making based on transparent data, and scalable solutions that respect GDPR and data sovereignty principles. Collectively, the success stories demonstrate that combining food expertise, digital innovation, and responsible data practices can drive meaningful change towards more resilient, ethical, and sustainable food systems, positioning citizens as active agents rather than passive consumers.
