EVOLUTION OF GERMANY-UZBEKISTAN RELATIONS WITH REGIONAL RESONANCE IN CENTRAL ASIA

This article examines the evolution of relations between Germany and Uzbekistan, emphasizing Uzbekistan’s central role and the broader regional resonance across Central Asia. Since Germany’s early recognition of Uzbekistan’s independence in 1992, bilateral relations have developed into a strategic partnership grounded in mutual trust, shared interests, and institutional cooperation. Particular attention is paid to the post-2016 reform period in Uzbekistan, which significantly intensified political dialogue, economic collaboration, and cultural exchange between the two countries.

The study analyzes key political milestones, including high-level visits, joint declarations, and migration and mobility agreements, highlighting how these frameworks have strengthened diplomatic trust and human connectivity. Economic cooperation is explored through trade growth, investment flows, and joint initiatives in energy, industry, agriculture, and innovation, demonstrating how complementary economic structures generate shared prosperity. Cultural and educational relations are also assessed, focusing on people-to-people contacts, academic exchanges, and cultural diplomacy as foundations for long-term partnership.

Furthermore, the article situates Germany–Uzbekistan relations within the wider Central Asian context, arguing that Uzbekistan’s reform-driven engagement with Germany produces positive spillover effects for regional stability, connectivity, and sustainable development. The findings suggest that the Germany–Uzbekistan partnership represents a model of constructive international cooperation, combining national interests with regional integration and global responsibility.
