The Boundary IS the Substance: Empirical Validation of Market Spacetime Ontology through Spike Bar Analysis

Authors/Creators

Description

The preceding paper (Market Topology as Unified Spacetime) derived a market ontology through deductive reasoning: time is constructive (T operator), space is 2^N-quantized (L lattice), and spacetime is unified through Primary Slope k = dP/dt. That derivation generated eight falsifiable predictions about spike bar behavior—predictions that follow necessarily from the ontology rather than from empirical observation.

This paper subjects those predictions to rigorous empirical testing. We demonstrate that spike bars—traditionally dismissed as "noise" requiring smoothing—are in fact physical manifestations of ontological boundaries. They are not measurement artifacts but quantum probes revealing the 2^N lattice structure.

Through analysis of 21,421 observations across Bitcoin, S&P 500, and Gold (2020-2025), we test all eight predictions:

Spatial Predictions (if 2^N lattice is real): (1) Spike clustering at 2^N levels: 94.7% vs 50% random (p<0.001). (2) Stronger reversals at 2^N boundaries: 73.4% vs 51.2% random (p<0.001). (3) Spike magnitude correlates with lattice energy: r = 0.68 (p<0.001).

Temporal Predictions (if time is constructive): (4) Sequential spike correlation: r = 0.41 demonstrating T operator action (p<0.001). (5) Enhanced spike activity at temporal convergence points: 2.1x baseline (p<0.001).

Unified Predictions (if k couples T and L): (6) Spikes align with k direction: 67.3% directional accuracy (p<0.001). (7) Perpendicular spikes (tests) occur at k boundaries: 89.2% (p<0.001). (8) Dam Breaking at k×L intersections: 12/12 major events predicted (100%).

All eight predictions are confirmed, with effect sizes far exceeding random expectation. Crucially, control tests using 10^N levels, Fibonacci sequences, and random levels all fail, confirming that 2^N structure is not coincidental but ontologically necessary.

This establishes spike bars' ontological status: they are not noise to be filtered but the physical manifestation of spacetime boundaries. The boundary IS the substance—not metaphorically but ontologically. This work completes the empirical validation of market ontophysics.
