Tabular datasets supporting LiDAR-informed modelling of megalithic landscape densities

Description

This dataset contains the tabular data supporting the analyses presented in the accompanying article on LiDAR-informed modelling of megalithic landscape densities.

It includes results derived from two case studies, integrating megalithic site inventories (WIMD) with CORINE Land Cover data to characterise land-use contexts, spatial distributions, and density-related metrics. Separate tables are provided for each case study and data source.

The dataset is intended to ensure transparency and reproducibility of the analytical results reported in the article "Reassessing megalithic densities in Southwestern Iberia through LiDAR-based landscape analysis" and may be reused for comparative or methodological purposes in other archaeological landscape studies.

 

wimd_case_study_1.xlsx

Description: Tabular dataset of megalithic records from the Western Iberia Megalithic Dataset (WIMD) for Case Study 1. Each record includes a confidence score and is linked to a CORINE Land Cover (CLC) class and to a spatial grid cell used in the analysis.

  • id (integer): unique identifier of the megalithic record.

  • conf_score (integer): confidence score assigned to the record, reflecting identification reliability.

  • country (text): country where the site is located (e.g. Spain or Portugal).

  • name (text): site or element name as recorded in the inventory.

  • CLC_code (integer): CORINE Land Cover level-3 code associated with the record.

  • CLC_label (text): descriptive label of the CORINE Land Cover class.

  • grid_id (text): identifier of the spatial grid cell used for the analysis.

Description: Tabular dataset of megalithic records from the Western Iberia Megalithic Dataset (WIMD) for Case Study 2. The structure and fields are identical to those of Case Study 1, enabling direct comparison between case studies.

Description: Tabular summary of CORINE Land Cover composition for Case Study 1. Each row represents a combination of a spatial analysis unit and a CORINE Land Cover class, reporting the surface area occupied by that class within the unit.
