The Motives for Prostitution Consumption Scale (MCPS)

Description

This questionnaire was created for the following context of use: Academic research in the field of social psychology, gender studies, and attitudes toward prostitution and paid sex. The target population is young people aged 18 to 29 years from the general population.

The Motives for Prostitution Consumption Scale (MCPS) consists of 20 statements about prostitution and about women in prostitution, using a 6-point Likert-type scale ranging from: 1 = Strongly disagree; 2 = Disagree; 3 = Somewhat disagree; 4 = Somewhat agree; 5 = Agree; 6 = Strongly agree.

The scale is composed of two motivational factors identified through exploratory factor analysis, where higher scores indicate a greater degree of agreement with that motivational dimension.
