Identical Inputs, Divergent Outcomes

Description

Description (Canonical, Dependency-Aligned)

This document analyzes a class of failures in automated decision systems in which identical inputs lead to divergent execution outcomes.

The analysis assumes, without restatement or re-derivation, the architectural invariant defined in the Execution Authorization Anchor and treats it as a fixed boundary condition. That invariant establishes that execution permissibility must be enforced by a non-bypassable authorization mechanism operating at the protocol level in order to be externally verifiable.

Within this boundary, the document demonstrates that, in the absence of non-bypassable protocol-level authorization, execution determinism cannot be externally verified, even under identical inputs, identical executable code, and nominally identical system states. Divergent outcomes in such systems are therefore not implementation defects, but an architectural failure mode.

The document is descriptive and diagnostic in nature.
It does not define a standard, does not prescribe an implementation, and does not propose remediation.

Architectural non-determinism is formalized solely as a governance-grade risk condition arising from the absence of an authoritative execution boundary, not as a policy recommendation, compliance requirement, or operational directive.

This record is strictly referential and non-operational.
It introduces no standards, implementations, protocols, policy guidance, or compliance requirements.
