Travma Sonrası Stres Bozukluğu Tedavisinde Göz Hareketleriyle Duyarsızlaştırma ve Yeniden İşlemleme Terapisinin (Emdr) Etkinliğine Yönelik Bir Derleme Çalışması

Description

Abstract (English)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychological condition that may arise after an individual is exposed to life-threatening or emotionally overwhelming events. This disorder can significantly impair daily functioning, emotional regulation, and interpersonal relationships. Among various therapeutic approaches for PTSD, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has gained increasing attention in recent years as a structured and evidence-based intervention. EMDR aims to reduce distress associated with traumatic memories by reprocessing them in a way that facilitates cognitive and emotional healing.

This review study explores the therapeutic effectiveness of EMDR based on findings from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) focused on PTSD treatment. The literature indicates that EMDR not only alleviates core symptoms but also contributes to improved emotional regulation, enhanced functionality, and the restructuring of maladaptive belief systems. Research conducted across different populations and clinical settings highlights EMDR as a versatile intervention that promotes psychological well-being.

The structured nature of EMDR, its adaptability to various contexts, and its potential to deliver results within a brief therapeutic timeframe make it a favorable choice in clinical practice. Findings from relevant studies support EMDR as a reliable and effective treatment method for PTSD. This review aims to guide clinicians and researchers by providing an overview of the empirical support for EMDR and offering a foundation for future investigations in trauma-focused therapy.
