Gene Ontology Curators AI Workshop (Part 1)

Description

Goals:

 

Equip curators with general purpose AI skills and literacy, usable in a variety of different contexts, and to unblock paths to continued exploration. 

 

By the end of training curators will be able to

 

  • Craft effective prompts for common curation tasks

  • Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy and hallucinations

  • Use AI for literature review and term selection

  • Leverage search capabilities for preliminary research

  • Understand when to use vs. avoid AI assistance

  • Use the demonstrator Noctua connector for GO-CAM review and creation

 

Crucially, curators will be equipped to integrate AI into everyday workflows, using judgment as to where and when it makes sense.

 

Pre-requisites:

 

Understanding multiple aspects of GO curation process (ontology, standard, GO-CAMs). Familiarity with how to navigate and submit GitHub issues. No technical skills required.

 

Participants should register for an account on claude.ai, but note that no subscription is necessary.
