Description
Vorticella parasita Stokes, 1887
= Vorticella ephemerae Kahl, 1935
Report as epibiont on oligochaetes: This species was reported as epibiont on an aquatic worm from the USA (Stokes 1887; Kahl 1935; Schödel 2018).
Remarks: This species is found in freshwater, occasionally epibiotic (Warren 1986). Kahl (1935) also described Vorticella ephemerae from unidentified mayflies. Warren (1986) kept Vorticella ephemerae Kahl, 1935, as a junior synonym of Vorticella parasita Stokes, 1887.
