Geneza powołania Stacji Badania Wędrówek Ptaków w świetle korespondencji Janusza Domaniewskiego

The origins of the establishment of the Bird Migration Research Station in the light of Janusz Domaniewski's correspondence. In January 1931, on the initiative of Professor Michał Siedlecki, the Bird Migration Research Station was established at the State Zoological Museum in Warsaw, where it operated for the next twenty years. Its first director was Janusz Domaniewski. Archival materials preserved in the Archives of the Museum and Institute of Zoology of the Polish Academy of Sciences include correspondence of considerable significance for the history of zoology between Domaniewski and prominent Polish zoologists Michał Siedlecki, Jan Sokołowski, and Jan Szczepski. These letters focus primarily on the process of organising the newly founded Station, which was responsible for coordinating and documenting bird ringing in accordance with international standards.
