MAR2PROTECT Saltmarsh as a living laboratory

Description

Activities for junior high school students at the Living Lab Lima River Estuary in Viana do Castelo: 

Presentations: 22 November 2024 and 2 December 2024
Visits: 16 December 2024 and 19 February 2025

  • Plenary talks on the role of salt marshes in addressing water challenges.
  • Site visits to a lab-scale wetland model and lab activities.
  • Site visits to the salt marsh and CS 
  • Creation of videos by students

The objective of these activities was to provide an engaging, hands-on experience designed to educate students about estuarine salt marshes and their role in maintaining good water quality and environmental health.

There were 45 students and 6 teachers, of whom 55% were female and 45% were male.
