Data Management Plan (DMP): Principles, Implementation, and Example of the FCT/ARGOS Model
Description
Effective management of research data is now a fundamental pillar of open science. Indeed, the Data Management Plan (DMP) is a strategic tool that allows the researcher to define, from the outset of a project, the methods for collecting, storing, documenting, sharing, and preserving data. This training session aims to explain the essential principles of the DMP, its objectives, and the best practices recommended by major funding agencies and scientific institutions. It shows the key components of DMP, mainly, data description, metadata and standards, security, sharing, archiving, ethical and legal aspects, and plan review.
Therefore, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and ARGOS developed a DMP model which illustrates an operational approach to the DMP, aligned with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and open science policies.
